I never got a car as a teenager, but I was able to use the family’s
1957 DeSoto and later the 1964 Pontiac Tempest..
When I left home in 1971 until I got married in l983 I did not own
a car.. I used a bicycle or the bus or relied on the kindness of strangers to
get me around the vast area of Los Angeles..
When we got married, my husband bought a l966 Volvo Station Wagon,
stick shift which I couldn’t drive...so still no wheels.
Then we got a different Volvo Wagon, automatic so I could drive
whenever he wasn’t using it.
It blew up in New Mexico on a road trip.
Volvo Wagon #3 entered the picture. Then #4, our
current car...
BUT THIS LITTLE CREAMPUFF IS MINE!
on June 1st. 2010 I finally got my first car.
YOU’VE COME A LONG WAY BABY...

Roll the windows down and turn up the music!!
WOOOHOOO Cynthia! Way to go girl...that's awesome and I'm so happy for you. I didn't think there was anyone else out there like me...I never even had a car to drive as a teenager and never got my drivers license until I was 25...and married with 2 kids and one more on the way! I never had a vehicle of my own for years but the vehicle I loved to drive the most was a 1 Ton diesel crew cab 4x4. It's the kind of truck you see on logging roads as a work truck. I LOVED IT and I drove it everywhere...up mountains, through water, carrying logs and horses and kids. Now I have a car of my own. I can't take it up mountains but I can go garage sale-ing in it! Have fun with your new 'baby' my friend....I want to see a picture of you driving it ok?! Take care my friend....Maura XX
congrats on the new first wheels..love that color
Oh, and it's a beauty! Congrats! A milestone day -- I'm happy for you!
Oh Cynthia, congrats. Having a similar story about cars behind me, I am glad that one of us made it! Posh color :-) fits you well. Have fun
Ooh very smart! I love red cars, my first car was red and my favourite car I owned was red too.
so beautiful! and probably means much more to you than other cars might mean to other people. i can't even imagine the emotions that driving it around will bring up :)
I'm seriously almost giddy with excitement for you! Congratulations. You must go on a road trip now. Looks like you have plenty of room for "treasures" in the back. Woohoo. I have never owned a "new" car. My first car was a '71 VW bug, it was in mint condition when I got it in 1982 but NOT when I finished with it.
First computer and now first car! How many of us can you fit in for a celebratory ride down to the bakery?
Yeah baby! Congratulations! Enjoy the ride and safe travels,
jj
Whoo Hoo Go Girl!
Just don't you go doing what all the young people do over here when they first get a car and go speeding and racing round the lanes with the music thumping out to deafen all around!
xx

Congratulations!!! I've been so busy now that school is out...hope you've been doing good.
HOORAY! We so appreciate things when we have to wait a little for them. Or a lot. ENJOY!
Hey there! I love the story of how you finally got your first car. So, how is it now? I hope you get to use it for years. And if you do, I suggest you pay more attention to your car's condition as years of usage can eventually cause problems. For one, listen for any strange noise in your engine. Brakes start squealing when the pads are near the end of their life, and wheel bearings and CV axles will start grinding before they fail.
