The HUNTINGTON LIBRARY

We went to The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in Pasadena.
One of its biggest draws is this painting,
THE BLUE BOY.  He’s very old and very expensive.

This is “PINKIE”

She cost those Huntingtons a lot of bucks too.

Here’s some really cool old statues.

I think the Huntingtons invented “shabby chic”.

I would love this  at my front
entry but I don’t think I could afford it.

I’m glad I don’t have to be the one to
clean all the chandeliers.

This guy was almost totally bare naked

delicate hands...beautiful soft light

I loved the pretty lady pictures the best.

she looks pretty mean but i loved the lace collar.

jewelry idea.

she’s not very pretty but her dress sure is.

If you ever come to California, The Huntington Library is one place you have to see.
It has extensive gardens, lots of wonderful paintings and shows different traveling exhibits.  We went there to specifically
see the Charles Rohlfs  exhibit.  The camera ran out of juice so I couldn’t take
any photos of that....bummer.

There is a Modern Art Wing, Cactus Gardens, Rose Gardens (we are in Pasadena after all)
A huge greenhouse.   None of which I can show you here because of the aforementioned
dead camera.

THE GIFT SHOP HERE IS SO GREAT.  I TRULY WANTED EVERYTHING
IN IT.

When I was a kid, my Auntie Chic had copies of the Blue Boy and Pinkie on her bedroom wall. We used to have Blue Boy Ice Cream in Canada too back in those days.

Cynthia - it looks fantastic. You and I are very similar. I would totally think about the dusting with that beautiful chandelier - I made some choices when building our house around dusting! Jewelry ideas were bursting over here as well. I like the look on the last woman's face - cheeky.

What beautiful statues, urns, the chandelier and paintings. I know 'The Blue Boy'. ...... and what brilliant inspiration for your jewellery, Cynthia. We have been to Calafornia quite a few times, but have never been to Pasadena. I'll make sure that we do next time.
P.S. Isn't it annoying when your battery runs out when you are visiting such a wonderful place ? It often happens to me !! XXXX

Glad you found
a place to cool off!
This looks like my
kind of place, as I
love art museums,
especially when they
are set in such beauty.
I also love the gift
shops!!!

LOooove the Huntington Library too...especially the cactus gardens in the spring! I had no idea cactus could be so incredibly gorgeous and colorful. Good for you Cynthia for taking yourself on an artist's date : ) Hugs, Penny
PS. watched a great Huell Howser tonight about a 103 year old ukulele musician, Bill Tapia. Thought of you! Not to mention my daughters boyfriend gave my son a ukulele today! Weird!

Being so much in art - I do lvoe your pcis and the detail photos you have taken. This hand with lace, wow. I hope I see many of arty things in the USA. My move finally has been decided - moving Nov 15 to Tampa. Now I have to check this other blog. Love and hugs, Paula

I love the Huntington museum!! I went there two times when I was a kid for field trips and I remember standing in front of Pinkie and Blue Boy and being in awe at the beautiful paintings with their exquisite color and depth.

Fabulous pictures!

Oh and BTW I voted for you on Tongue and Cheek! I loved the "Glockenspirlygig"!!! Way to go girlie!
