The Queen Mary
It is super hot today here in Long Beach....
maybe I ought to drive to the beach.
But I don’t even want to get in the car...
I don’t want to do anything but sit in front of the fan.
Summer is having her final fling after we have had
cool weather, with overcast mornings.....
and momma ... its hot
and smoggy
and dusty
because we haven’t seen a drop of rain since....
i can’t remember when...
But this summer has been beautiful
and bountiful...
I have been living on my summer favorite
Tomato Sandwiches!
I have discovered this wonderful mustard called:
inglehoffer sweet hot mustard
its from Beaver, Oregon...and it could make a paper towel taste great!
but I have used it on these great new rolls that I started buying called
Earth Grain multi-grain THIN BUNS...
A thick slice of BeefSteak Tomato
a couple of thin slices of Orange Tomatoes
(these look so great on a sandwich, like melted Cheddar Cheese)
a large spoonful of said mustard
a couple of rings of sliced Jalapeno peppers....
gooey, drippy on your plate deliciousness...
I have been going to Weight Watchers for six weeks now.
These sandwiches have saved my butt or more accurately
have made my butt go away...and they are so decadent.
Hope you all are having a wonderful summer
as it draws to a close.
HEY NEW FOLLOWERS!
THANK YOU... |

The sandwich sounds yum. Enjoy the rest of your summer and try and stay cool.
Oh can I just have a little of your sunshine. It's almost non stop rain and it's cold. Wearing a sweater and a fleece to walk the dog in August is just daft.
When I was over recently I was impressed with the beauty of the heirloom tomatoes for sale in the farmers shop.
That sandwich is a keeper!
Hi Cynthia! Yep, I'm just down the coast a ways, in Huntington Beach. Thanks for the Fair Grounds bead tip! love your blog and now I'm following you! Mary :O)
Hi Cynthia, so glad you stopped by granny mountain for a visit so I could see your part of the world! My parents lived in Santa Cruz before I was born. I can't wait to look at your jewelry and follow you! I agree totally, you can't beat a good tomato sandwich! The Earth Grain thins are so good with a burger, less calories and you really don't miss all that bread. I need to do Weight Watchers, dieting is so dang hard! Hope you had a great day!
I hear you Cynthia, our power went out for 3 hours today and it was 111 degrees outside! By the time it came back on I was packing my bags to move to Alaska! Sandwich sounds YUM.
I feel your pain! I was in LA today at the Science Center Imax Theater to see the Hubble/Spaceshuttle film...fabulous by the way. It was a scorcher! BUT, we can all be thankful NOT to be in Ojai today...high of 108!!!! (Some say 113). Gotta try your recipe tomorrow with my tomatoes....inside! : )
Drooling over that sandwich ... and what a weird summer it's been. I'll be happy to wave it buh-bye! Right now my neck o' the woods is experiencing its first brush with autumn -- daytime temps about 23C for the last two days, but it'll be up past 30C again by Sunday ... Strange to be thinking of 23C as autumn-like ... and I'm sitting here in flannel PJs and a cozy hoodie ...!
Oh it does sound hot....so cold and wet way over here.
That sandwich does sound tasty, so great you can have things you like whilst watching the ole weight!
