Santa Monica, California

THIS IS AN AWESOME BUILDING LOCATED IN SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA
I love old buildings and take photographs of them whenever I can...this is a rare old beauty from the l920’s

Some lucky folks actually get to live in these fab apartments.

I was just on my way to The Promenade in Santa Monica
when i stumbled upon this great old building.

This is the entry courtyard...

Two blocks away from the beach!  Pure Heaven!

A Tiled Rug...

I’m going in!!

THE LOBBY.  Hushed , tranquil beauty..

I FIND  THAT IF YOU SMILE, ASK POLITELY, PEOPLE
WILL BE KIND AND LET YOU TAKE PICTURES AND ROAM
AROUND THE MOST UNLIKELY PLACES.

LOVED THIS FIREPLACE AND SCONCES.

Can you imagine coming home to this everyday.

These are the steps leading to the apartments.

It turns out that as well as permanent apartments,
they rent some out by the week...
Are you coming to Santa Monica?   Do you have big bucks?
This would be the place...Close to everything..

THE EMBASSY HOTEL AND APARTMENTS...

you can thank me later...tell them Beatnheart sent ya.
I just checked it out on the site “Yelp”...looks like
nothing but great reviews.  If your coming to visit California
stay here, give me a call and I’ll come down and we’ll hang!

Thank you to all my new followers!

And to all of my regulars...
Enjoy your week, hope you all are having a wonderful summer...

Hi Cynthia, love the photos!! Yes, LA has some of the most amazing buildings, love them. They look like they are right out of the old black and white movies! Hugs, Riki

I love that sort of architecture, too.
If I were single, I think I would totally live in a funky little apartment in a building just like that.

Great pics!

Great photos. I am sure they are structural sound, being in CA and earthquake country. Thanks dear for sharing and all your comments of encouragement to me. Blessings, JBR

I love Santa Monica - one of my favorite places in CA. I have a dear friend in England who used to work on Montana Ave. and live not far from there as well, LOVED going to visit her. Don't think I came across this building though - it's fantastic.

Cynthia, guess I should send you some from Munich. The house I am living in is rather young - JUST 300 years old. Giggle. I would love showing you around Munich and even more so taking you to some stunning art and jewelry ateliers. Yepp, would be lovely to have you here. I am fairly confident you would truly love and appreicate it. Hugs across the pond

Those old Spanish style building are so gorgeous. I hadn't heard of this hideaway hotel option in Santa Monica but if I find any very rich friends I'll tell them about it. I'm sure that beauty doesn't come cheap-- unless the apartment dwellers have rent control-- the lucky dogs!

I'm taking a 3 week blog vacation. i'll catch up with you September 1st.
Cheers, jj

A trip into art deco? Found one of my sideshows about Munich. BTW in one of the houses I do live currently.

Hi Cynthia!
What a beautiful building...yes I could see me living in a place like this...if it was in the country and still 2 blocks from the beach! Hope you're having a great day...we're off to Canada tomorrow. 'See' you when we get back!

Thanks for having the guts to go in and ask and then take pictures! That was an amazing tour I never would have gotten otherwise - which is why I love blogging. I loved that fireplace and tile rug. Also thanks for visiting and following my blog. I'm absolutely following you back - publicly through google. I'm so glad I found your blog - I can see already that I'm going to like visiting here!

Great fun! I wonder if Santa Monica has changed much from my visit there over 30 years ago! I loved it - so very different to what we have in Australia! So enjoyable to experience,as I have done again here. Only stopped for a couple of days on a rushed road trip but the weather was perfect and shopping the best! Thanks for the memory prompt Cynthia!x

I love "your" building.... it is fun to find unexpected beauty right in our own backyard! It reminds me of a Huell Howser show on an amazing old abandoned Spanish style hotel in Riverside somewhere.... I'll have to find out the name, you'd love it!
The almonds, you ask? Inside those fuzzy pods are the nut casings (light brown with the little dots) and inside the casings are the raw almonds. I just peel them and eat them raw but one can roast and salt them too!
Good luck in your garden! Cheers, Penny

hi cynthia! :) how lovely~ and how sweet of you to find out that people can stay there and to suggest it and offer to hang out. you are so open-hearted~ such a beautiful soul!!

i thought of you recently because i saw a kid's ukelele for sale the other day and i'm thinking of getting it for our daughter for her birthday. she's still a toddler, but she already loves musical instruments. this will be her first stringed one, and i thought a ukelele would be good because they're smaller. i can't wait to see her strum-strumming away :D

sending love, light and peace your way~~~
