Almost Done!

Part of doing taxes is dealing with end of the year inventory.
It is a time of reviewing your glories...
and your mistakes...

and the piles of stuff..
that you just threw in the garage...
comes back to haunt you.

the phrase “why did I buy that!”  rings in my ears...
and so now you must sort everything out, record it and try
to remember what the heck you paid for it...

Deer antlers were huge last year and my dear brother
kept me well stocked by shipping them to me from Wisconsin.

Yikes, what a mess...

It is also a time of reflection.
Maintaining a business is hard work.  Trying to make “a living”
selling old stuff can be a wild ride roller coaster because
you never know if the rent will get paid or even if
you’ll break even.  Last years fad is this years white elephant
and you end up getting stuck with it.

and then the taxman, and the business licence man wanna come
and take what little you make away.

but for me buying old stuff is fun.

The buying part that is.

So now I take stock, and try and see what the next “hot” thing
will be.  Because the worst part of it all is is all the stuff
left over at the end of the year...

The “what was I thinking??? stuff.

the broken stuff..

The I’ll refinish that stuff.

only a few of the lamps that need rewiring

Thanks for hanging in there and I appreciate all you kind support.   I apologize....my new
venture is not that big of a deal and I hope I didn’t lead you on to think I’ve gotten signed to
Sony Records or Oprah has chosen me to be her West Coast eyes and ears and given me my own
TV show.   It’s small potatoes kids...   I’ll keep you posted as things progress when and if they do...

Peace out...caw

Heart be still. I think I'd like to forage around in that garage of yours :)

Oh I know what you mean; fortunately there is an auctioneer near us that sells box lots - I do a big sort and take a load to him 2 or 3 times a year...yet still my storage space is overflowing!

I still saw some cool stuff in these photos~~~I don't know how you keep track at all! You'd find my body under all of this! lol
And Oprah is missing out on an amazing woman...she really should give you a call!

Your garage looks like the sort of place I could spend time rummaging for treasure!
Good luck finishing those darned taxes.

I remember all that from my antique dealing days. Buying is definitely the best part! Now that I make assemblages I wish I still had some of the broken down stuff we must have gotten rid of (or maybe it will turn up someday). Keeping my fingers crossed for your new project :-)

You and Paul McCartney could sing a rousing rendition of the Beatles Taxman song. He on the left-handed guitar, you on the Ukelele. I bet your garage is a hundred times more interesting than his too - or Oprah's for that matter. Infinitely fossickable!
Well done you for getting stuck into the tax work. Due last year,I finally lodged tax forms with the accountant last night, just before the procastor's absolute final deadline at the end of March. Along with root canal work, it's my least favourite activity.

Oy, year end inventory. Such a pain, second only to writing the check to the taxman :-(

Hang in there, xo jj

Hi Cynthia....Thanks so much for coming by my blog and for your very dear sweet comment about Betty....It is hard to believe she is really gone. We all thought she would live forever---You saw that Life Force, "in person"...So you know. She was so very special and unique and such a great great friend....

How wonderful that you are Blogging! It is quite amazing, isn't it? I have been blogging since October, 2005, and have met so many wonderful people....Being "confined" as I am, it has been such an important expansion of my world!
I send you and dear Guiseppe, my love, my dear...Do come by again, anytime. There will be more "Betty"...! It helps me right now---it really does. But, there is a lot in 'the archives', too....Blogging is like an on-line History and Diary. It has served me incredibly well over these last 5 1/2 years....!

Looks like fun to me...as long as you have the space to store it all. Antlers will be back in.

Oooo I LOVE that wood cabinet! I need to do the same thing with all the things that wouldn't fit in the farmhouse from the old Victorian. The bad thing is...its dark and dingy and hot in the summer and cold in the winter and there's spiders out there in the building we have our things stored in. I HATE spiders! You're my inspiration to start on my 'stuff'...one day :) Hugs to you my friend.
Maura :)
