gypsy bangle stacks

My girl Fancifuldevices has made a long awaited tutorial
on making these bangles.  One of the main purposes
is to clean up your stash.   Well my stash is pretty limited...
beads that I bought when I went to my first bead show and went crazy.
I bought without a vision or any ideas...just ohh look how cheap they are
and how many of them...It’s like buying shoes that don’t go with anything
and make your feet hurt...you never use them.  So anyhow...

I found it to be an exercise.

It is starting to free me up ( well a little bit)

I don’t know if it’s because I’m a Virgo...
I don’t know if it’s because My Inner Critic
(MIC) has a voice bigger than Ethel Merman
and is constantly telling me that what I make is no good...
and the big problem with that is that I believe her most of the time.

MIC is on my left shoulder, or my right, or sometimes both.
Even these bangles which according to Fanci are to be made
happy and carefree like...heck she even puts the TV on to make hers,
I took apart and redid and didn’t like and MIC was shouting
louder and louder and finally I said ENOUGH!

so I got all carefree like...
fanciful even.

well fancifaux

The point being...is just sitting at the bench and working
exploring and learning.  Maybe one day MIC will not
shout so loud.  Maybe she’ll give helpful and gentle advice
and not be all Mother Superior about it.
(boy those nuns sure screwed me up)

There is nothing wrong either with being neat.   That is my
nature.  I would have been the girl with the perfect stitches on her sampler.
I would have gotten a A+.    But when that perfection holds you back
and you don’t get anything done cause you keep taking it apart, well that
isn’t good either.

Here’s my girl and her blog.
You can get the tutorial and try this on your own
or buy some of her extraordinary creations...
She doesn’t have an inner critic from the looks of things
but an angel sits on her shoulder and guides her as she produces
some Fanciful delightful devices.
now go....

That MIC needs a long field trip to somewhere exotic and get stranded on the side of the road somewhere and lose her passport and not be allowed to return until she changes her attiude. Or maybe needs an 8 hour ride in an Indian taxi to shake her up. Or maybe as you said she need to shut up and watch the magic without interrupting you anymore. Nice to stretch once in awhile isn't it.
These bangles you've been banging look great as a group don't they?

Hello Cynthia:
Whatever you say here, the results look to us to be very, very attractive and well worth all of the time and thought which has gone intro their making.

Our advice is to ignore, if not banish completely, the MIC.

These are lovely bangle bracelets; do not pay any heed to your inner critic, you are talented.

These are awesome!!!!! ( but next time i'm going to demand you make bangles while blindfolded. seriously. just dip your hand into stash and add randomly. TRY IT. I bet you'll be surprised.) And the more you do, the easier it'll get. already your earrings you've been making have been free and lovely.

Get some ear plugs . . . your bangles are great!

Cynthia! Seriously gorgeous! These turned out great.

I, too, have the MIC problem, so I feel your pain. I get so tired of taking things apart.

lol@ Kim's comment. :)

Your work is wonderful.
I can relate to the MIC take apart and redo disease though. Things that don't sell in my shop vanish and reappear in different form on a regular basis. One step forward and three steps back.

I love your bangles, and since I am one of those all dressed in black kinda gals, the blackness of
yours works for me!

it's very hard to be objective about our work, we are our own worst critics I fear.
You will just have to take our word for it, your work is a delight.

Love the quiet richness of these.Just right for a moody mysterious gypsy. And as for the MIC they can be re-trained, try music or failing that murder

Absolutely beautiful! I love what Numinosity said, 'give that MIC an 8 hour ride in an Indian taxi...' I'm paraphrasing. You inspire me as do all of you to relax my inner critic as well, and to just Be. I've done it before, it will happen again for this old puppy. Brava xxx Juliette

Knock old MIC right off your shoulder, my dear...! These are WONDERFUL!!! She Doesn't Know What She Is Talking About!
Keep on creating, my dear...And do not allow that B**ch MIC get in your way...!

I agree the MIC need to be coaxed! Maybe we should organize a MIC convention somewhere far away and all our MICs would so much enjoy themselves together that they won't come back?
I think your own version of Fanciful gypsy bangles is mysteriously enchanting, I love them. Now, don't repeat that but I'm procrastinating trying Fanci's tute because of my MIC... I know there would be some violence!! But I read it regularly as a mantra...
