See that jasmine arbor to the left?
It has been the focus of our attention
lately as two mockingbirds have decided to
turn it into their honeymoon haven...
First the building...
It went on for days as they flew back and forth
with beaks of straw and twigs and grasses.
In and out they went...
until finally they were satisfied...
They settled in nicely...
while the honeymoon went on...
but sooner than a blink...
eggs were spotted in nest as we had to take a
peek inside...days went by.
Soon more in and out and out and in...
with beaks filled with tasty little morsels for the little ones.
I am convinced that the parents are the wee ones we
had two seasons ago when they built a nest very near our bedroom
door in the Wisteria ...then we could see and hear them...
They are “my mockingbirds”....
They have used my husbands sculpture as a landing spot.

Aw - sweet love story, right in your own yard! (it's a BEAUTIFUL yard, by the way!)

Fun... As long as they are not near your bedroom window! : ) Your yard is fabulous...looks like Hawaii! Love your hubs sculpture. Hope you're well. Hugs, PK
How sweet! Your garden is gorgeous!
A number of years ago a pair of Mockingbirds took up residence in my next door neighbors bushes--and they used the Gate Opener thingy as their stopping-off place before disappearing into the bushes...I LOVED watching them and even got a picture of one of the parents on the stopping-off place....I LOVE SPRING!!!
Your Garden looks so lovely...and that sculpture looks Beautiful, too! Mr. Beatnheart is Soooo Wonderfully Talented!
Oh Cynthia, such a beautiful yard and fabulous sculpture, and a sweet mocking bird story. I just love them, we have some nearby, I never get tired of hearing their many songs.
Hugs,
...Jackie xo
Your environs are (is?) lovely How sweet to have the mockingbirds bedded down in your arbor.
Cool sculpture too!
Cynthia...that's a beautiful garden spot and fantastic sculpture. Plus, bird stories are always wonderful. Thank you. :)
How fun is that. I am always mesmerized when I watch birds nest-- I could stand at the window watching for hours.

Beautiful garden! Love the sculpture. I guess the mockingbirds must be used to you and your hub! I recently got dive-bombed when I got to close to a nest (apparently)
Oh, to be the Mockingbirds in that heavenly mass of Jasmine!!
Lucky birds. Now I want to go out and plant things... I am so not a gardener.
What a lovely love story. What a lovely garden.
We have nesting mockingbirds as well. Actually, our neighbor's parkway has them. They terrorize all the cats on the ground and all the squirrels along the telephone lines. It's hysterical.
They must be very happy birds amongst such beauty and creativity. It's said that in this world we all need a safe place to land, but such a creative one too? Lucky birds!
I don't think we have Mockingbirds in Australia.
You and your husband are so talented and create such a beautiful environment.
